Grants For Single Mothers
There are several type of grants for single mothers including government packages that are offered to ease their financial burden. The government college grants specifically, are given to help single mothers in furthering their studies and get higher paid jobs after their courses are completed.
The grants can also help them to care for their children, pay for medical expenses, purchase heating during winter, pay house rentals and even buy an accommodation. However, to apply for government grants there are several criterias that should be owned by an individual. First, the single mother must be a valid citizen of America, and she must have her own valid social security number.
At the time she applies for the grant, she must be currently residing in any states, territory or tribe within the land of America. She should also show a proof that she is a single parent and is currently taking care of her minor children.
Grants for single mothers include the TANF or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families. The grant is given to the single mothers to take care of their children and to allow the children to live in a safe, home environment.
The grant also allows the single mothers to seek courses to enhance their job skills and therefore resulting in a stronger family bonding. Another type of grant is called CCDF or Child Care and Development Fund.
This grant is handled by each state and the grant differs from one state to another. The single mother must apply the grant from the state she is currently residing to simplify the process of application and approval.
Single mothers are eligible to apply for the grant if she needs child care support while she is out working, attending classes or a job training, and her income must be less than the minimum salary as outlined by each state.
A person is also eligible to apply grants for single mothers if she has children below 13 years of age, or children who are more than 13 years old but require special needs. If the children are above 13 years of age but are under the supervision of certain court order, the government will also help the single mother by approving the grants.
